Understanding the New Layout

Updated this week

The new Payroll report layout makes it easier to view and manage your payroll data by splitting it into three sections. This guide walks through each section, the available filters, and how to interpret the key columns.

All filtering and export features remain the same—only the layout has changed to help you find what you need more easily.

🧭 Report Sections

Most Recently Closed

This section displays the payroll cycle that has just closed. It’s the one you’re most likely to download and process for your current reporting needs—whether that’s weekly, monthly, or any other frequency.

Upcoming

Here you’ll see upcoming provisional cycles that haven’t closed yet. Use this view to plan ahead and monitor what’s scheduled next in your payroll timeline.

Historical

This area includes all payroll cycles that were previously closed. It’s useful for referencing older data or running comparisons across past cycles.

🔧 Filters

You can still apply all standard filters to narrow down what you need. Filters work across all three sections and include:

  • Payroll Cycle: Narrow results to one or more specific payroll cycles (e.g. 2024-Aug-01 to 2024-Aug-15).

  • Period: Select by payroll frequency—this is only relevant if your organisation has more than one payroll period configured. Available options:

    • WEEKLY

    • BI_WEEKLY

    • SEMI_MONTHLY

    • FOUR_WEEKLY

    • MONTHLY

  • Change: Filter by change status of the specific row enrolment or allowance. Available options:

    • OPT_IN

    • ACTIVE

    • CHANGED

    • OPT_OUT

    • CORRECTED

      * The change status shows a Provisional - prefix when the Payroll cycle is not yet closed, indicating the value is temporary.

  • Email: Search and filter by the employee’s registered email address.

  • Benefit: Filter by the name of the benefit involved (e.g. Holiday Buy Scheme, Private Medical Insurance).

  • Employee Pay is 0: Returns only records where the employee contribution is 0, if set to true.

  • Employer Pay is 0: Returns only records where the employer contribution is 0, if set to true.

📁 How to Export Payroll Report Data

You can export your payroll report data directly from the dashboard in a few simple steps. Here’s how:

  1. Click the three-dot menu (···) in the top-right corner of your report view.

  2. Select Download to open export options.

  3. Choose your preferred file format:

    • .csv (Comma-separated)

    • .xlsx (Excel)

    • .json (Raw data format)

  4. Choose the formatting style:

    • Formatted – Dates and numbers will appear as they do in the dashboard (e.g. September 6, 2024 or $187.50)

    • Unformatted – Exports raw values for easier integration into other systems

  5. Click Download.
